Easy Peasy Puppy Squeezy: Book Review

It’s no secret that we’re huge fans of books here at Team Canine P. We love reading them, we love writing them, some of us love eating them and it’s rare that we have anything negative to say about them.

When it comes to Steve Mann’s training book, Easy Peasy Puppy Squeezy, I (Marie) was left a little deflated and I’m going to tell you why.

Easy Peasy Puppy Squeezy

I was going to write a training book, one that offered a lighthearted, engaging, take on training and over the last few months I have found that I’ve signposted so many people to Steve’s book that I’m going to shelve that idea and shout from the rooftops that this is the training book you need to buy.

With my writing hat on (it’s a beanie hat, obvs!), I’m a firm believer that different people bring different elements to their writing which means that readers resonate with books differently. The same wisdom, shared by ten different people in ten different ways will resonate with readers in the way that they need to absorb that message. That’s why I believe books are pure magic.

With Easy Peasy Puppy Squeezy*, the only thing I would change about the whole book is the title. Not because I feel a little silly when repeating it to sceptical clients, but because it’s not just for puppies. In fact, of the hundred or so people I’ve recommended this to over the last few months, only three were training puppies.

The ‘easy peasy’ part of the title is accurate. There are step-by-step guides and, of course, as Steve is the founder of IMDT (the training body I’m a member of), everything is force-free, ethical, science-based and fun.

It’s brilliant. If it’s the only training book you ever buy, you’ll have everything you need to set you puppy or dog up for success. Like any of us, if the information is brand new, it doesn’t matter what our age is, we’re at puppy, beginner, stage.
